Kaiser Sacramento Medical Center was improved with the addition of a new Central Utility Plant (CUP) with an equipment yard. The 3,100 ton Central Utility Plant was designed to serve the hospital expansion utilizing four extremely high efficient centrifugal chillers, four cooling towers, two 8 million BTU/h heating boilers, three 750kw generators, new medical air compressors, new medical vacuum system and seven 9.5 hp steam boilers. The structure was 15,682 square feet, and construction consisted primarily of reinforced masonry and steel construction. CEL provided all special inspections and materials testing for the structure, as well as anchorage inspection for the equipment.
